Angie Cheah is a soprano who enjoys both classical and contemporary singing. She graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) with a full scholarship and was awarded “The Most Outstanding Student” of MIA in 2016. In 2019, she received voice training under the tutelage of reputed Malaysian singer Datuk Syafinaz Selamat at the National Art Culture
and Heritage Academy (ASWARA).
Angie has won several competitions, including category winner in the Artise Visual and Performing Arts Competition (2022), 1st place in the National Patriotic Solo Singing Competition (2021), and 2nd place in the Aswara on Air Challenge “Acapella Challenge” (2020). In 2018, the record label Halo Music recorded her voice in one of the songs in the “The 4th Halo Songwriting Competition” album. She has recently been invited to perform at several concerts, such as Pure Joy of Classics and Bel Canto Gala Night by the Malaysian Institute of Art, Mozart Requiem (as soprano soloist) by The Bentley Music Academy, Seni Warisan Muzik 3 Bangsa by RTM, and DEWA19- A Night at the Orchestra in Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. She also co-hosted the 18th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards held in PJPAC.
Angie’s passion for vocal coaching has led her to work closely with individuals who want to pursue music after high school. Her students have won several awards in various competitions, both nationally and internationally. She also conducts The Young Treble Singers, which was awarded Gold at the Asia Pacific Arts Festival in Hong Kong (2017) and Gold at the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod (MCE) National Choir Competition in the virtual choir category (2022). She was a soprano member of Asia Pacific Youth Choir 2023 organized by Young Choral Academy.
