About

Discover the remarkable expressive range of the bass trombone in an engaging recital by Malaysian bass trombonist Henry Wong Chun Hang, currently pursuing his Master of Music at McGill University in Canada.

This thoughtfully curated programme explores the many voices of the bass trombone—from the cinematic grandeur of Kevin Day's Fantasia IV, the lyrical introspection of Elizabeth Raum's Turning Point, and the cross-cultural influences of Reena Esmail's Sonata, to the vibrant colours of Steven Verhelst's Colores. The second half continues with the fiery brilliance of Ricardo Mollá's The Devil's Smile, the jazz-infused energy of Eugène Bozza's New Orleans, and concludes with Ethan Cogswell's Two Tales of Friendship, a contemporary work celebrating connection, character and musical dialogue.

Joined by pianist Lim Kwan Yee, this recital offers audiences an opportunity to experience the bass trombone not merely as an orchestral instrument, but as a captivating solo voice capable of immense power, warmth and extraordinary artistry.
